Meet Brittany Scott

Clinical Mental Health Graduate Student Intern at University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNCC)

Hi, I’m Brittany, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte also hold a Master’s in Teaching and a Bachelor’s in Social Work. Before beginning my counseling journey, I spent several years supporting children and families in schools, foster care, community mental health, crisis services, and behavioral health. Those experiences have deepened my appreciation for the resilience of children and the incredible impact that caring, supportive relationships can have on their lives.

As a therapist, I want children to know they don’t have to earn acceptance or have everything figured out before they walk through my door. I believe every child deserves a place where they feel safe enough to be exactly who they are.

One of the things I love most about play therapy is that it meets children where they are and honors the unique ways they communicate, heal, and grow. My hope is to create a space where they feel seen, valued, and understood. I love partnering with families to better understand their child’s emotional world while building practical tools that strengthen connection, confidence, and communication at home. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in the belief that meaningful change happens when children and the adults who love them feel supported together.

I feel incredibly grateful to do this work and consider it a privilege to walk alongside children and families during seasons of growth, healing, and discovery. I look forward to meeting you and being part of your journey.
