I always knew I would be a Child Mental Health Therapist.
Growing up, I was the one who reached out to others—joining the kid sitting alone at lunch, volunteering in the neighborhood, and welcoming new students. It was clear to me that I was meant to help.
Throughout my life, I found opportunities to serve—whether it was volunteering as a camp counselor or comforting children in the nursery with my grandmother, Annie. My passion for supporting others grew during my higher education when I pursued becoming a School Counselor. However, the reality of the profession hit me hard: long hours, limited resources, and the constant pressure to “just get through the day.” I realized that I wanted to do more.
That’s why I created Annie’s Creative Counseling—a place where children find calm, parents find peace, and educators find power. Over the past 10 years, we have become a leading provider of family & educator mental wellness in Charlotte, NC. We believe that mental health is the foundation for a thriving, balanced life and offer a safe, supportive space for children, parents, and educators to embark on their healing and growth journeys. Our practice prioritizes mental wellness for families, fostering emotional well-being through creative therapy approaches, because we understand that each individual’s path to mental wellness is unique.
The purpose of the Counseling Cove blog is to give parents and educators immediate access to the mental wellness resources they need. I want you to feel empowered and supported now. It’s about creating a space where you don’t have to wait to get the help you need, where you can learn actionable tools for improving mental health immediately.
Mental wellness is a right, not a privilege. And at Annie’s Creative Counseling, we’re here to make sure that every child, parent, and educator in has access to the support they deserve.
Our mission at Annie's Creative Counseling is simple:
Help children find calm: Whether it’s managing anxiety, school stress, or social challenges, we provide a safe, nurturing space for children to express themselves. Through creative therapy techniques like play therapy and art therapy, children can learn valuable coping skills that empower them to navigate their emotions with confidence.
Help parents find peace: Parenting is one of the most rewarding yet challenging journeys, and the pressure to “get it right” can feel overwhelming. At Annie’s Creative Counseling, we work with parents to create peaceful, loving environments by offering tools to reduce stress, manage expectations, and balance self-care with caring for your child’s needs. You deserve peace now, and we’re here to help you find it.
Help educators find power: Educators are the foundation of our children’s learning experiences, but the emotional toll of teaching can be draining. That’s why we’re committed to supporting teachers with stress management techniques, personalized counseling, and workshops to help them maintain their mental wellness. When educators are empowered, they can continue to lead with passion and strength. We believe you deserve to feel powerful today, not after burnout.
This blog isn’t just a place to read advice—it’s an extension of our mission to make mental wellness accessible to everyone. We help you navigate your challenges and find the resources you need to prioritize emotional health, whether you’re a parent, educator, or child.
See you inside,
